The Shan Project is located in Mae Hong Son district with around 20-30 members currently involved in various projects. The Shan people have migrated from  Myanmar and many of them work in Thailand ($2-3 US per day), while some even live here. The Shan people are pure Buddhist who have escaped from the persecution of the Myanmar government. Many of the Shan people end up fleeing to Mae Hong Son, Fang, and Ai – all districts within Chiang Mai. Some of the Shan people have citizenship but many do not. Even if they are born in Thailand they are denied citizenship because they are still considered citizens of Myanmar. Your team can do evangelism to the Shan people in various villages. Opportunities to do dramas, testimonies, preaching, tract distribution, prayer walking, teaching English and building relationships will be plentiful for your team!
