Teaching English at the Buraruk School
When Cindy and I made our exploratory trip to Thailand with Nathaniel, Juanita, and Christina; Joe Benfield, the IMB missionary, arranged to have us teach English one day at the Buraruk School, a private school in Samut Prakam southeast of Bangkok. It was here that we heard the schools marching band play their school theme song, which is to the tune of "Send the LIght" by Charles H. Gabriel. . They were not singing the words but here are the words to that great hymn:
There"s a call comes ringing o'er the restless wave,
The previous day we had visited the Grand Palace in Bangkok and saw all the gold covered buildings, as if the Thai people were making a heaven on earth. But there next to the shrine of the emerald buddha was a pig sacrifice on the altar. It was this and the school song that convinced Cindy, that God was calling us to full time service in Thailand.
